Meet Mike Siegel, President of Nodus Solutions,
member of the Houston chapter of the Healthcare Think Tank
Nodus Solutions was started in 2003 doing one thing…WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT. As the internet has evolved over 15 years, Nodus has also evolved. Not only do we work with medium to large business to improve their Internet Identity, we also perform SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION to increase a company’s bottom line and automate processes, not solutions with our SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT team.
Q: Tell us a little about your background.
A: I have been developing websites and solving complex problems for clients for over twenty years. Nodus Solutions has developed several software products for content management, online ticket purchasing and member management.
Prior to starting Nodus Solutions, I spent six years with Compaq Computer Company as their manager of Desktop Support and Development. I was responsible for developing the first Intranet at Compaq and it is still in use and bears the original name. Before joining Compaq, I worked for Exxon as the manager of Desktop implementations. I implemented Windows 3.0 at Exxon and Word 1.0 (yes there was a Word 1.0!). Prior to Exxon, I worked for Accenture as a systems analyst.
I earned my B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and my M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
Q: How do you envision healthcare changing in the future and what is Nodus doing to stay on the edge of the technology?
A: WOW, loaded question! It is honestly anyone’s guess at this point. No one knows what D.C. will be able to get together and do and how the next several years will play out politically. There are proposals on the table from Single-payer to repeal ACA and everything in-between. It really is a guessing game at this point in time. Nodus will stay apart from all that by delivering patients to medical providers. That’s what we do – we make the phone ring! We stay current on all the latest technologies and techniques to keep the providers websites on page one of Google and that leads new patient to our clients.
Q: What was your first impression of the Healthcare Think Tank and what inspired to join?
A: I was very impressed with the quality of the people attending and the breadth of types of companies. I was hooked after the first visit.
Q: Have you made connections/relationships through HHTT?
A: Yes, several. I am working on a number of leads from HHTT and am working with others to help them with their business.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: I have been married for 31 years. I met my wife at U of H while we were doing our MBAs. We have three children all grown, oldest in Austin (woman) middle one (man) in Houston, and youngest (woman) in Valencia, Spain. I love to DO sports – watching is sooooo boring and such a waste of time! Tennis, jogging, swimming, biking (not the motorized kind), golf, hiking, backpacking, and anything that will get me active.
Q: What’s your favorite destination?
A: As my wife is from Barcelona, we know Cataluña best in terms of travel. We have been there over 30 times and will retire (if we ever retire) there when the time comes. My favorite travel spot in the world is the one I have yet to discover.
